The boundary condition appropriate for a PV near a wall (Figure (6.10)) can be reproduced by using the method of images as shown in Figure (6.11)

This is the case of a vortex pair with opposite circulation. Thus the PV moves parallel to the wall with speed $v_{y} = \Gamma_{0}/4\pi d$.
