In late 2016 I finished my PhD in the Solar and Magnetospheric Theory group in the Institute of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of St Andrews. My supervisor was Prof. Alan Hood and I was funded by the Carnegie Trust for the Universities of Scotland.

My research interests included:

  • Solar magnetic flux emergence - the process by which magnetic fields rise through the solar interior and expand in its atmosphere.
  • The formation of sunspots during the emergence process.
  • 3D MHD simulations of the emergence of toroidal fields.

I was also member of the organising committee of YRM2016, the Young Researchers in Mathematics conference. YRM is an annual postgraduate Mathematics conference and was hosted by the University of St Andrews in August 2016. See the website for further details: www.yrm2016.co.uk
